Academics

Central in Your Academic Life

At Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central), we believe that academic excellence is not just about grades — it’s about cultivating curiosity, critical thinking, creativity, and a deep commitment to lifelong learning. Our rigorous dual curriculum challenges students to excel in both Judaic and general studies, while also encouraging them to integrate Torah values into every academic pursuit. With passionate faculty, dynamic coursework, and opportunities that reach far beyond the classroom, our students are empowered to think deeply, write boldly, and lead confidently — in high school and far beyond.

We are proud to offer a wide array of innovative academic programs that reflect the diverse interests and talents of our students — from immersive STEM experiences and humanities seminars to Torah enrichment and real college-level coursework. Whether a student dreams of conducting research, writing a novel, arguing a legal case, or exploring halacha in depth, Central provides the tools, mentorship, and inspiration to help her reach her full potential.

Unique Academic Opportunities

We offer a range of specialized academic programs that empower students to pursue their passions and challenge themselves beyond the standard curriculum. From the nationally recognized ACE program in architecture, construction, and engineering — where students design real-world projects and present to industry leaders — to the intellectually rich Adira Rose Koffsky Humanities Scholars Program, which deepens literary, historical, and artistic exploration through seminars, cultural outings, and writing competitions, our students engage with learning that is immersive, relevant, and inspiring. Our Rambam Bekiut Program fosters deep Torah study and community bonding through weekly learning, guest shiurim, and experiential programming focused on halachic topics tied to the land of Israel.

For those passionate about science and research, the Science Institute offers an intensive, hands-on experience guided by leading professionals, including lab sessions with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and internships at top institutions like Einstein Medical School. Additionally, our partnership with Stern College allows students to take rigorous, college-level courses right on campus, earning academic credit and gaining early exposure to higher education. These unique offerings reflect Central’s commitment to nurturing future leaders — scholars, thinkers, and creators who are equipped to impact their communities and the world with confidence, depth, and purpose.

Academic Support

We recognize that every student learns differently — and we are deeply committed to supporting every learner with compassion, expertise, and high expectations. The Dr. Martin Lilker Learning Center provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment for students with diverse learning needs.

Through individualized learning plans, one-on-one tutorials, small-group classes, curricular modifications, and close collaboration with teachers and parents, our Learning Specialists help students grow in confidence and independence. The Learning Lab reinforces classroom material, sharpens study skills, and ensures every student can thrive in Central’s rigorous academic environment. At Central, support is not about limitations — it’s about unlocking potential.

Guidance Programs

College Guidance

From the first day of high school, Central students are on a path toward thoughtful, purposeful college planning. Our Director of College Guidance works closely with students and families throughout all four years to identify schools that reflect each student’s academic strengths, values, religious growth, and long-term goals.

We provide ongoing support with applications, interviews, scholarships, and timelines — and maintain strong relationships with top universities. With a dual curriculum and a wealth of extracurriculars, Central students enter the college process with a strong resume and a clear sense of who they are.

Israel Guidance

Our Joy Rochwarger z’l Balsam Office of Israel Guidance helps students prepare for a transformational year of Torah study in Israel following high school. Through Israel Night, meetings with seminary representatives, alumnae panels, and personalized guidance, we help students and families find the right fit for spiritual growth, intellectual exploration, and maturity.

Mrs. Yael Axelrod, Director of Israel & Religious Guidance, works closely with students to navigate the application process, advocate on their behalf, and ensure a smooth and meaningful transition into this important stage of their Jewish journey.
