Unique to Central Academic Offerings

Learning Opportunities Like No Other

Central offers a wide range of unique academic opportunities that empower students to dive deeper into their passions — from engineering and science to literature, Torah, and the arts. With hands-on programs like ACE, the Science Institute, and the Rambam Bekiut initiative, along with college-level courses through Stern and a vibrant Humanities Scholars Program, our students are constantly challenged to think bigger and reach higher. These experiences prepare them to lead with knowledge, creativity, and confidence in every arena of life.

ACE (Architecture, Construction, Engineering)

Starting in 9th grade, Central students can join the ACE program — an exciting, hands-on introduction to the world of architecture, construction, and engineering. Participants meet regularly with industry professionals, attend expos, and visit active job sites, gaining first-hand exposure to real-world STEM applications. Over the course of the year, students collaborate on a capstone engineering project, which they present to experts at the annual ACE Finale. They also explore architectural landmarks across New York City, making this program a standout experience for aspiring engineers and problem-solvers.

Adira Rose Koffsky Humanities Scholars Program

This selective program nurtures students with a passion for literature, history, writing, and the arts. Through bimonthly seminars, participants explore classic works from historical, literary, and Judaic perspectives, engage in meaningful cultural experiences — including museum visits and theater performances — and interact with renowned authors and scholars. Students develop their writing through competitive opportunities, mentorship from faculty, and a collaborative peer-review process. Created in memory of Adira Koffsky a”h, a beloved Central student, this program honors her legacy by championing creativity, thoughtfulness, and intellectual depth.

Rambam Bekiut Program

Open to all students, this beloved Torah learning initiative invites participants to explore the Rambam’s Mishneh Torah in depth, with weekly learning and assessments led by Rabbi Zvi Lew. Focused on themes such as Shemittah and mitzvot connected to the Land of Israel, the program features guest shiurim from leading Torah scholars, trips to Yeshiva University, and a community of learners united in their growth. The Rambam Bekiut Program strengthens our students’ commitment to Torah study and builds a culture of shared learning across grades.

Science Institute

Designed for students with a passion for science and research, the Science Institute begins in 10th grade and offers a concentrated pathway of advanced science learning. Participants attend weekly lab sessions with Professor Jason J. Williams of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, study research methodology, and pursue prestigious summer internships — including opportunities at the Einstein School of Medicine. With special events like the Medical Ethics Conference at Yeshiva University and real-world lab exposure, students graduate with both scientific skill and confidence in the lab.

Stern College Courses

In partnership with Yeshiva University, Central offers the opportunity for students to take Stern College courses right on campus — taught by university professors. These courses provide a rigorous, college-level academic experience and help students earn credits that may count toward future college degrees. Students who complete over 12 credits are eligible for residency credit, giving them a meaningful head start on their higher education journey.
